Pjurrigan National Park

(MIDDLE BROTHER NATIONAL PARK)

One of Our Nearby National Parks!

Harrington and Crowdy Head are ringed by three world-class national parks including this one, all well worth a day's exploration!
CLICK HERE for more info on other national parksThere is no better (or closer) place than Harrington and Crowdy Head to start your day for some great views from Crowdy Bay National Park at Crowdy Head, Coorabakh National Park just across the Pacific Highway, and a bit further north, Middle Brother National Park.
Just don't forget to come home to Harrington or Crowdy Head for a great night out at one of our restaurants, cafes, or take-aways!

The Three Brothers Mountains are named after three aboriginal brothers, two of whom were slain and eaten by a witch.  The youngest brother returning from a visit to his parents killed the witch and buried his brothers' bones on Dooragan (North) and Pjurrigan (Middle), and then killed himself on Birpai (South).

The parents searching for their sons heard a voice telling them that each mountain held the spirit of one of their sones, and so the name the "Three Brothers Mountains" was perpetuated in the aboriginal community.  This story has been retold by generations in the local Birpai tribe.

Pjurrigan National Park

Pjurrigan National Park, also known as Middle Brother National Park is the northern-most of the national parks in the Manning Valley region.

Accessed from east side from the Pacific Highway just north of John's River or from the south entrance at Stewart's River, this  park features the Bird Tree picnic area, and Benaroon, the largest tree in New South Wales by volume (yes, there is a taller one south of here, but this one is MASSIVE).
Most roads are accessible year-round by family car.  Please call National Parks on 6583 5188 for updates to Pjurrigan National Park roads and facilities, as more is planned for the near future!

Below: In addition to Bangalow palm stands in most gulleys on the south and west faces, some faces of Pjurrigan (Middle Brother) feature mixed grass tree, cycad and tree fern forests

With more development and roadworks funded for the future, Pjurrigan will join Coorabakh to the south, and it's sister park Crowdy Bay as one of the mid north coasts' premium national parks.
